Yom Kippur [Leviticus 23:32] is from sundown on this Wednesday the 1st of October to sundown on Thursday the 2nd.
Though the FEAST is stated in Leviticus 23:27-32, details of how YHWH Commanded it be Performed is in Leviticus Chapter 16.
Reading and Meditating on that Chapter on this Day, requesting RUACH HaKODESH to Show whatever is relevant to oneself personally, could be spiritually uplifting.
As many would know, “Yom” means ‘Day’ and “Kippur” means ‘Covering’. The COVER of the “The ARK of The COVENANT” with the wings of the Cherubim spread over it is called “KAPPORET”, which is translated usually as “The Mercy Seat”.
The High Priest sprinkled the “Blood of the bull” for his own sins and for those of his household [Leviticus 16:6] and subsequently “The Blood of the Goat of the Sin Offering” for ALL the people, upon this KAPPORET [Leviticus 16:14,15].
That Kapporet was a ‘Copy’ of the REAL KAPPORET in Heaven [Revelation 11:19].
Hebrews 4:14 to 5:10 points out that YAHSHUA IS THE REAL HIGH PRIEST, that Aaronic High Priests Represented.
Then in Hebrews 9:23-28, the writer illustrates beautifully how “YAHSHUA Entered NOT the ‘copy on earth’, but the REAL ONE in Heaven” to make ATONEMENT for ALL, who put their TRUST IN HIM.
Though HE Had to DO it only ONCE, WE have to APPROPRIATE “HIS Finished Work” into our lives DAILY, through SINCERE REPENTANCE, because WE SIN DAILY.
Simply saying “Sorry”, is NOT ‘Repentance’, as Paul points out in 2nd Corinthians 7:10 – “Godly sorrow LEADS TO Repentance” (NIV) or “Works out” (KJV).
May GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT Show us individually, “WHAT GENUINE REPENTANCE TRULY IS” and HOW we are to PRACTICE it in our lives personally, as we Observe Yom Kippur this year. AMEN!
